What do you think: Companies need more women in leadership

Today is International Women’s Day. The day on which the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) publishes the latest wage figures. This shows that the hourly wage of women in 2020 was about 14 percent lower than that of men.

In 2008 the difference was still 20 percent. With the pay gap, the Netherlands is in the middle of Europe. In Luxembourg, the difference in hourly wages is less than 1 percent. In Romania, Slovenia, Italy and Poland there is less than 5 percent difference. The gap is widest in Latvia, where women earn 22 percent less than men.

The gap arises in the Netherlands because women are partly more likely to work part-time and less often have a managerial position. According to the statistics bureau.

What do you think?

Should we do everything we can to close the pay gap and should companies therefore put more women in leadership positions?
