The war in Ukraine has consequences for prices in the Netherlands. The war drives up the price of grain and the price of grain-based products such as beer, pasta and bread rises.
Supermarkets sometimes restrict the sale of sunflower oil to avoid shortages. There is a risk of a shortage, because two-thirds of the sunflower oil sold in the Netherlands comes from Ukraine. Incidentally, there are plenty of other alternatives available and there is no threat of a shortage of oils and fats, says trade association MVO.
