This year, with an average energy consumption, a household will pay 2800 euros in energy per year. That is an increase of 86 percent compared to last year. That reports the CBS.
The increase in energy bills is mainly due to higher supply rates for gas and electricity. Tax measures partially offset the higher delivery rates. For example, households will pay an average of 417 euros less in energy tax this year, as a compensation for the higher supply rates.
On the other hand, households will pay less energy tax in 2022 as a compensation for the higher supply tariffs. A household with an average annual consumption will pay 417 euros less in tax in 2022 than a year earlier.
Insulation
The average consumption of gas and electricity by households has been falling for years, partly due to (better) insulation of homes, but also, for example, because appliances are becoming more efficient. This trend is expected to continue in the long term, causing the average annual energy bill to decrease.
What do you think
Are you going to have your house (extra) insulated because of this significant increase in energy bills? Or do you leave it at that and just put on five sweaters more often to compensate for the heating?
