What do the numbers say? No penalty and AZ gets a goal against PSV

Based on the statistics, we look forward to the 21st round in the Eredivisie. The top match against PSV is on the program for AZ. A difficult duel on paper, but the last two editions in Eindhoven were won.

Goal against seems a certainty:
PSV has scored 48 times in twenty matches this season. Only leader Ajax does better with 61 goals. In the last ten league matches, the team of coach Roger Schmidt has always scored at least once. Only Ajax (5-0) and Feyenoord (0-4) could not be cheered this season.

No penalty kick:
There are five Eredivisie clubs that have not yet given away a penalty this season. Both AZ and PSV are part of this, so it seems unlikely that referee Allard Lindhout will point to the spot tonight. We all know that once has to be the first time.

Nice series going on:
AZ has been doing well in the Eredivisie since the last defeat against Feyenoord three months ago. The team of trainer Pascal Jansen has already been unbeaten in nine league games. In the event of a draw or a win tonight, AZ will be the first club not to lose ten Eredivisie matches in a row this season.

PSV often strong against AZ:
Of the 43 previous meetings in Eindhoven, AZ won six times. It was tied five times and the other matches were lost. From the summer of 2007 to the end of 2018, AZ never took three points from Eindhoven. Since then it was 0-4 and 1-3 in the last two editions.

AZ in form against PSV:
Earlier this season, the people of Eindhoven won with 3-0 in Alkmaar, but the four mutual matches before that were all won by AZ. The last five goalscorers on behalf of the Noord-Hollanders in the Philips Stadium are Teun Koopmeiners (2x), Calvin Stengs, Myron Boadu (2x), Jonas Svensson and Dani de Wit. Only De Wit is now in the AZ selection.

PSV – AZ starts tonight at 8 p.m.
