What a thriller – Here is Finland’s semi-final opponent

The Davis Cup semi-finals will be played on Friday.

Finland will face Australia, last season’s finalist, in the semifinals of the final Davis Cup tournament.

As on Tuesday, in the quarter-final between Australia and the Czech Republic, a full three matches were required to decide.

The Czech Republic led after the first singles game when Tomas Machac (ATP-78) beat by Jordan Thompson (ATP-56) in two batches (6–4, 7–5). In the meeting of the first players Jiri Lehecka (ATP-31) led the lot as a clear early favorite Alex de Minauria (ATP-12) against, but ultimately bowed 1–2 (6–4, 6–7, 5–7)

In the doubles, the Czech Republic paired Lehecka Adam Pavlasek. They stepped on the other side of the net Max Purcell and No. 1 in the doubles ranking Matthew Ebden.

The pair Purcell/Ebden was better in the set 2–0 (6–4, 7–5) and led the Aussies to the group of four.

The semi-final match between Finland and Australia will be played on Friday. The start time will be specified later.

On the other side of the tournament schedule, both quarterfinals will be played on Thursday. Italy will face Holland and Serbia will face Great Britain.

The final will be played in Malaga on Sunday. The bronze match is not part of the Davis Cup program.
