Weyts: “Increased dropout rates in secondary education are partly due to economic boom”

According to Minister of Education Ben Weyts (N-VA), the increase in school dropouts in secondary education is partly due to the economic boom. “In times of economic boom and tightness on the labor market, many young people succumb to the lure of the private sector,” the minister said in the Flemish Parliament. He responded to questions from Kathleen Krekels (N-VA), Loes Vandromme (CD&V), Elisabeth Meuleman (Groen), Kim De Witte (PVDA) and Emine Gül Isci (Vooruit).
