Westzaanse Sint praises his heroic helpers who ‘saved the life of a volunteer’

Two days later, the Westzaan good saint and his helpers are still scared. During the arrival, a volunteer became unwell and fell into the ditch. Three Petes didn’t hesitate for a moment and jumped to help. Today, a shocked, but above all proud Saint, tells about the heroic action of his helpers.

A moment of panic on Saturday in Westzaan. A volunteer became unwell and fell into the water. Three Piets became aware of the situation and did not hesitate for a moment. The Saint says: “Three Piets immediately jumped into the water and helped the man.”

Together with local residents, they resuscitate the man. From the hospital he thanks the helpers and bystanders: “You really saved my life.”

At first it was unclear to Santa what exactly had happened, so the head man quickly sought information about the situation. He informed Santa. Then the group came together.

Once together, the Piets share their experiences. “They were all very impressed, it’s terrible to see something like that. There was a lot of crying, but that’s also good. Let the tears flow and the sadness will flow out of your body,” Santa advises.

There were not many children who witnessed the accident. And that reassures Santa somewhat: “Some dancers saw it happen. That is very scary.”

To recover from the shock, Saint Nicholas and his helpers drank a nightcap after the arrival. Today it became clear that the man is doing well under the circumstances, but is still in hospital.
