“Westhoekwolf” sighted in Wingene and Ruiselede

Wooded area

The wolf now ends up in more wooded areas, where there is also more wildlife, such as deer. Jan Loos, from the welcome wolf reporting point, does not say whether the wolf will linger in the woods of Bulskampveld or whether it may continue towards Drongengoedbos. There lives a group of fallow deer, near Ursel.

Dead cow

In the meantime, a dead cow has been found in Aalter. DNA has been collected to see if the animal is a victim of the wolf. But that is still unclear because there was hardly any food. The cause of death can therefore also be another, after which scavengers have eaten from the cadaver.
