Westhoek focuses on tourism with ‘De Grote Goesting’

A wide range of experiences

The theme year ‘De Grote Goesting’ offers a wide range of activities in the Westhoek. Winegrowers organize, for example wine tastings and dinners among the vines. Tourists can also book a sommelier or cook at home during their stay in the Westhoek.

The ‘Dinners insolites’ are another highlight of this themed year. Here you can dine at special locations, for example on an experience farm with lambs on the banks of Zillebekevijver.

The event will take place on June 11 to 12 ‘Tournée Trappist’ place in Oostvleteren, where 11 Trappist breweries from all over the world will be present. Here you can participate in activities such as beer tastings and beer cycling routes.

In addition, there is a new cycling and walking offer. The new walking network ‘De Blankaart’ will be opened just after the summer. This route runs through a nature reserve rich in birds and the WWI front zone.

Westhoek tourism hopeful for 2022

“The storyline ‘De Grote Goesting’ is more than a good reason for potential visitors from Flanders and the Netherlands to visit the Westhoek.” So says Maaike Cafmeyer, ambassador of the theme year. From now on, the travel conditions for third countries have also been relaxed in Belgium, including the United Kingdom.
