The municipality of Westerveld is updating the Housing Vision with the implementation program. The reason is recent developments in the housing market, including the nitrogen problem, rising prices of owner-occupied homes, stagnation in the throughput, rise in construction costs for new construction and the national acceleration task.

Based on the regional housing market survey that was conducted in 2021, Westerveld will indicate for which target groups will be built and which numbers of homes will be needed until 2030.

The current Housing Vision was adopted by the city council on December 17, 2019 for the period up to 2025. This Housing Vision outlines a vision of living in Westerveld on the basis of detailed spearheads. In addition, an implementation program has been established.

Adjustment

However, based on the current Housing Vision, Westerveld cannot make good choices as to why, where and for whom the building should be built. Current figures and locations are missing in the current Housing Vision. Moreover, a well-motivated substantiation of new construction sites is lacking. Adjustment of the Housing Vision and the implementation program is necessary in order to be able to move along in the market.

In addition to determining the target groups and the number of homes up to 2030, the municipality would like to have a better understanding of which locations will be built where in the short and medium term. In addition, the current Housing Vision mainly focuses on infill locations and transformation of existing buildings. In order to accelerate housing construction – for example to give more space to initiatives in the outlying area, such as divisions of houses and special forms of housing – it is necessary to adjust the rules for construction.
