Ranked 5th by spending
West Ham United are strengthening their attacking wing as well as their rank as one of the summer’s most spending teams. The Londoners sign Maxwel Cornet (25) from relegated Burnley and are said to be paying more than 20 million euros for the left winger. This increases the expenses of the “Irons” to more than 100 million euros for the new season.
Breaking the mark, West Ham join a group of now nine clubs that are already paying more than that for new players. With now 111 million euros in transfer expenses, the team from the east of the British capital even ranks fifth behind arch-rival FC Arsenal.
