Berlin (AP) – West Ham United is in the semi-finals of the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig then meets Glasgow Rangers.
The London Premier League club West Ham won 1-1 in the first leg 3-0 (2-0) at Olympique Lyon, Glasgow Rangers managed to beat Sporting Braga after the 0-1 draw in Portugal with a 3-1 (2nd :1, 2:0) after extra time the turnaround. The semi-finals will take place on April 28th and May 5th, with the final taking place in Seville on May 18th.
In Lyon, Craig Dawson (38th minute) and Declan Rice (44th) beat the former German U21 European champion Julian Pollersbeck in goal for the hosts before the break. Jarrod Bowen (48′) added West Ham United’s third goal early in the second half. That was the decision against the Olympique team coached by former Bundesliga coach Peter Bosz. 2014 world champion Jérôme Boateng was not used.
The Rangers, who had already knocked out Borussia Dortmund in the current competition, equalized the defeat from Braga in the 2nd minute through James Tavernier. The captain added a penalty kick in the 44th minute and gave his team the lead overall. David Carmo (83′) saved Braga in extra time, where Kemar Roofe (101′) let the hosts celebrate. The Portuguese weakened themselves with two dismissals during the game.
