West Flemish pilot project pays off: cameras and drones make traffic safer
Such cameras have been tested in Roeselare, Zonnebeke and Kortrijk, among others. They showed what the danger was for vulnerable road users. With even more cameras and drones, the Agency for Roads and Traffic also wants to make dangerous traffic junctions safer elsewhere in Flanders. They hope that this will reduce the number of accidents. Often only minor infrastructural adjustments are required for this, such as the widening of cycle paths, adapted lighting, clear road markings or the construction of green areas.
