West Flemish organizations will receive a doubling of operating resources
At the start of the legislature, the Jambon government promised a significant investment in the heritage sector. “With an annual total budget of 51.5 million euros for the policy period 2024-2028, it more than delivers on this promise. Compared to the 2019-2023 period, there is a budget increase of 54% or 18 million euros. The West Flemish heritage sector can expect an annual increase of more than 3.26 million euros,” says Coudyser.
Almost 1 million euros for ‘In Flanders Fields Museum’
According to the N-VA MP from Knokke-Heist, the deserved increase for Museums in Bruges is particularly striking. “The umbrella organization of thirteen museum locations in Bruges will receive the sum of 2.758 million euros annually from 2024. This also means a doubling compared to the previous legislature. In light of the construction of the Brusk and the renovation of the Groenemuseum, this increased amount is more then welcome. The Flanders Fields Museum can also count on an amount of 990,000 over the next four years,” says Coudyser.
Other organizations
There are still a lot of organizations that can count on a serious budget increase. Yper Museum in Ypres, Texture in Kortrijk and NAVIGO in Koksijde are still big winners with a budget increase of no less than 164% (Yper Museum), 144% (Texture) and 133% (NAVIGO).
