In addition to reducing energy consumption due to the decline, Flemish municipalities have also invested in smart fire programs to further optimize the use of lighting. These programs include deaf, dimming and specific fire programs tailored to the needs of each community.
However, of the almost 250,000 lighting poles in our province, the majority (59%) remain switched off for part of the night. In contrast, 11% of the poles are dimmed at night and 30% remain on. This means that the province of West Flanders extinguishes significantly more than other provinces where only 32% are extinguished.
