West Flemings ready to receive Ukrainians in their own home
But many people do not wait for that, and offer help themselves. Many people from West Flanders are even willing to make part of their homes available to Ukrainians.
Michel and Nadine from Rumbeke are in their fifties and their children no longer live at home. They have a room left, and a Ukrainian can come and live there for a while, they say. If we were in need, we would also like to get help, says Nadine. She is recovering from cancer but is happy to take this care with her.

Marc and Roosje and Kuurne also have a room ready. They are shocked by the brutality of the war. They are happy to take care of a mother with children, although they realize that it will not be easy.
In the meantime, almost all West Flemish municipalities have a link on their website, where volunteers can indicate whether they have a free spot at home.
