Weski reports on behalf of Taghi against OM because of an alleged plan to eliminate him

Ridouan Taghi has filed a report against the Public Prosecution Service (OM). His lawyer Inez Weski stated this on Wednesday in the court of Amsterdam during the resumption of the Marengo trial, report several media. The reason for the report is the alleged plan to kidnap or eliminate him in Dubai.

Weski finds it plausible that the state is out to kill her client. That is why she wants to question Michael Ruperti, the former lawyer of Sil A. – a soldier suspected of drug smuggling – as a witness, because of his statements earlier this month during a session at the military chamber in the court in Arnhem. That happened before he put down A.’s defense. According to Ruperti, A. was asked by secret services in 2019 whether it was possible to secretly take Taghi out of Dubai by commandos or otherwise ‘neutralize’ it.

It is still unclear whether the court will accept Weski’s request to question Ruperti, who will be present in court on Wednesday, as a witness. That decision is expected to be made later on Wednesday.

The Marengo process is currently in its final phase. Taghi, 45, was arrested in Dubai at the end of 2019 and was then transferred to the Netherlands. Weski has previously complained several times about the way in which her client’s arrest went. Taghi would have been mistreated. According to the Public Prosecution Service, he is involved as a client in several murders and attempted murders. A life sentence has been demanded against Taghi. The verdict is scheduled for October 20.
