Wervik schools can go to Komen or Menen to swim
The three municipalities have signed a partnership in which Wervik pays an annual contribution to the neighbors. All residents of Wervik can also go swimming at a resident rate. At the beginning of this year, Wervik decided to close its swimming pool permanently and scrapped the planned new construction, which would have been too expensive.
In the town hall, Wervik makes the collaboration with the autonomous municipal company Menen and the intermunicipal company Mouscron/Komen-Waasten/Estaimpus official. And with that, the children from 5 schools from Wervik can go to Komen to swim from September and three schools from Geluwe to Menen.
Wervik intervenes for the transport and for the obligatory bathing cap in Komen. But a swim will be up to 50 cents more expensive anyway. And all Wervicans can swim in Menen and Komen at the resident rate. The agreement with Komen runs for 12 years.
With Het Badhuis in Menen, the term is 10 years because the environmental permit will then expire.
