From Werder Bremen to RB Leipzig? Ole Werner had no future with the Hanseates. Now a trainer engagement is moving closer to the Bundesliga competition.

A change from Ole Werner from Werder Bremen to RB Leipzig moves back into the area of the possible. After days of standstill, both clubs have recorded the talks again according to dpa information. The “Deichstube” reported that both clubs “have now taken a big step together”. According to information from the portal, the change from Werner, which after its exemption is still under contract with the Bremern until 2026, moves closer to the Bundesliga rival RB.

For the Leipziger, Matthias Jaissle was recently the focus as an alternative if there is no agreement between Werder and RB. Werner was released at Werder after telling the Bremern that he did not want to extend his expiring contract.

According to reports, Werder asked for a transfer of six million euros, which the Leipzigers were not ready for. In addition to Werner, the two Bremen assistant coach Patrick Kohlmann and Tom Cichon should also disappear from the Werder salary list, as they would switch to RB.

In Leipzig, after the separation from Marco Rose, Zsolt Löw was in office as an interim coach at the end of March to the end of the season. In addition to Werner, CESC Fàbregas (Como) and Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) were previously under discussion for the head coach post.

The Dane Jacob Neestrup from FC Copenhagen had also been traded as a possible new coach, before the 37-year-old Jaissle was recently considered an alternative to Werner. The former Salzburg coach is currently training the Al-Nahry club in Saudi Arabia, where his contract runs until 2026. The RB training start is planned on July 14th.
