Bremen (dpa) – Werder Bremen can very likely fall back on captain Ömer Toprak in the home game against FC Ingolstadt.
The defense chief, who was in good form recently, had to end the training session early on Tuesday. After a more detailed investigation, the second division soccer team gave the all-clear. “Our captain took a hit on the knee in training today. But the plan is for him to train again tomorrow, Wednesday,” said Werder. Bremen’s head of professional football Clemens Fritz had previously spoken of a purely precautionary measure at Toprak (32).
The injured Milos Veljkovic and Marco Friedl were not in training. It is still unclear whether the two defenders will be available to coach Ole Werner in the duel with the bottom of the table on Saturday (1.30 p.m. / Sky).
