Bundesliga promoted Werder Bremen will have to do without captain Marco Friedl and midfielder Christian Groß in the second round of the cup game on Wednesday (6:00 p.m. / Sky) at second division club SC Paderborn.
Friedl is unavailable due to adductor problems, Groß is out due to illness.
“We assume that both of them will probably be available again on Saturday in Freiburg,” said Werder coach Ole Werner with a view to the Bundesliga game in third place (3:30 p.m. / Sky).
