Werder Bremen: Romano Schmid extends early – “Have big plans”

“We have big plans as a team”

SV Werder Bremen has prematurely extended Romano Schmid’s contract, which was originally valid until 2023. The second division team officially announced this on Saturday without naming the new term of the working paper, but he spoke of “the coming years” in Werder dress. The 22-year-old Austrian is one of the top performers in coach Ole Werner’s team this season and has been directly involved in seven goals in a total of 27 games to date.

“Romano has become an integral part of our team. You can tell that he has arrived at Werder. We are absolutely satisfied with his development and are sure that there is still a lot more to him. We would like to continue working on this development together and are pleased that he sees his future at Werder,” said Clemens Fritz, head of professional football and scouting.

Schmid added: “I’m really happy. The fact is that I have always felt very comfortable. I like the city, the fans, the whole setting and the Werder Bremen club. The main reason was that we have a lot planned as a club and as a team and I think I’m a big part of that.”
