Werder Bremen, returning from the Bundesliga, announced on Sunday morning that they had extended their contract with their top scorer. Niclas Füllkrug will remain with the promoted team and should remain one of the club’s most important figures. Exciting details about the striker’s new working paper have now been revealed.
As the “picture” reported that the 29-year-old’s new working paper should be a long-term contract extension. Filling krug signed with SV Werder until 2026.
The traditional player had not given any information about the exact duration of the new contract.
Even more remarkable than the four-year term of the new Werder contract should be the adjusted salary of the striker, who scored 19 goals in 33 appearances for Werder in the past second division season and thus became one of the acclaimed promotion heroes.
According to the newspaper, Füllkrug is said to have agreed to an annual salary of just under two million euros. So far, the center forward had earned 2.5 million euros in the Hanseatic city.
Werder return three years ago
The fact that Füllkrug agreed to an alleged drop in salary of more than 20 percent, although he recently presented himself as sporty as never before in a Werder jersey, is already considered a special feature in the Bremen area.
Head coach Ole Werner was correspondingly satisfied on Sunday with the extension of his leading player: “Niclas is an important building block in our team. He is one of the experienced players in our young team and should lead the group,” Werner would say on the Bremen club website quoted.
After stints at SpVgg Greuther Fürth, 1. FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96, Füllkrug returned three years ago to SV Werder Bremen, for whom he had made his professional debut in the Bundesliga over ten years ago.
