Julián Malatini is considered a hot act at Werder Bremen. Apparently the defender is already on his way to Germany. Clemens Fritz, head of licensing at the Fball Bundesliga club, comments on the rumors.
Things are now apparently getting serious in the courtship of Julián Malatini. As Argentina’s Football Association (AFA) announced, the defender left the Olympic national team’s training camp on Friday in order to complete the move to a German club.
This club is Werder Bremen. According to information from “Bild”, the 22-year-old defender is on his way to Germany.
The Bundesliga soccer team explicitly commented on the rumors in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday afternoon.
SV Werder Bremen: This is the situation with Julián Malatini
“We are trying to make a commitment and are in good discussions, but nothing is fixed yet,” Bremen’s licensing department manager is quoted as saying.
Malatini is supposed to close the gap in Werder’s defense that opened up with the injuries to the two central defenders Amos Pieper and Milos Veljkovic.
“I wouldn’t assume that there will be a new addition to the squad against Bochum. Nevertheless, I am optimistic that we can present a new man in a timely manner,” Bremen’s managing director Frank Baumann announced during the week.
Malatini’s contract with Argentine first division club Defensa y Justicia runs until the end of 2026. The transfer fee for the central defender, who can also play on the right side of defense, should roughly correspond to his market value, which is estimated at 1.7 million euros.
According to “Bild”, subject to the medical check, “only the final details remain to be clarified”. If everything works out, he will “sign with Werder this weekend,” it was said.
