Werder Bremen: Goller before farewell – “For talks at another club”

Inquiries, among others, from the 2nd league

Benjamin Goller has not played a single minute for Werder Bremen this season. That’s why the 23-year-old winger, whose contract expires at the end of the season anyway, is aiming to say goodbye to the Green-Whites in winter. A report published a few days ago by the “picture“ confirmed the Bundesliga team on Saturday.

Update 10.12., 11.57 a.m.: Goller is therefore absent from training to promote a possible change. “In addition to Felix Agu and Manuel Mbom (both rehab), Benjamin Goller, who is in talks about a transfer to another club, is missing today,” tweeted the green-whites.

“In the talks between Werder and the player, there was no desire on either side for an extension followed by a loan,” Goller’s advisor Dirk Lips had previously told the newspaper. The right winger, who came to the Weser on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04 in 2019, has been loaned out three times in the past, twice to Karlsruher SC and once to Darmstadt 98.

Werder Bremen’s Goller: 2nd league and the Netherlands are an issue

According to the report, there is interest in the native of Reutlingen, who has a total of eleven games for Werder, from the Netherlands and from the 2nd division, and there should already be specific inquiries. According to Lips, a “quick fix” is being sought. The Hanseatic League, who are ninth in the Bundesliga over the winter, start their preparations for the rest of the season on Thursday.

Bremen’s Managing Director Sport Frank Baumann recently announced that the North Germans only want to be active in terms of departures in winter. Even then, Goller was traded as a candidate for a change alongside goalkeeper Dudu (contract until 2024), who is also not yet in action this season. In addition to Goller, the working papers of four other Werder professionals will also expire in the summer of 2023.
