After Bundesliga return
After being promoted back to the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen extended the contract with Clemens Fritz. The green-whites announced this on Saturday and, as always, did not give an exact running time. The ex-pro first took over the scouting department in November 2019 before becoming head of professional football in August 2020.
“Clemens has also had a very intense year behind him. He did an excellent job in a difficult transfer summer and played a major role in putting together the squad that enabled us to return to the Bundesliga. In addition, his role in the team has changed again, he has moved closer to the team and is also taking on a more prominent role in public communication. We are very satisfied with how he interprets his role overall. The extension of the contract was therefore evident at an early stage, ”explained Sport Managing Director Frank Baumann.
These players left Werder after relegation in the summer of 2021
Fritz, who played 361 games for the Hanseatic League during his playing days, added: “I’ve always emphasized how satisfied I am in my current position. Intensive weeks are behind us, in which completely different topics were in the foreground. After the ascent, the time had come to finalize what was actually already known. I am very pleased that I can continue to play an active role in shaping Werder Bremen in the future.”
Honorary captain, DFB Cup winner and still head of professional football & scouting.
