Former junior international Juliane Wirtz (21) is moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
The two clubs announced this on Monday, Wirtz was originally tied to Leverkusen until 2024.
In her five years at Bayer, the sister of national player Florian (20) played 103 competitive games.
“In the past few years in Leverkusen, she has regularly shown that she can give important impetus to a game. In addition, she can be used very variably,” said Werder department head Birte Brüggemann on the first new signing for the coming season.
Thomas Eichin, Head of Youth and Women in Leverkusen, explained: “Juliane approached us with the request that she want to look for a new sporting challenge. After her many years of service to the club, we have complied with her request.”
