“We are very satisfied with Leon’s development. He did really well in the pre-season, acted bravely and freshly and thus earned his place in the squad. We are pleased that we have now been able to extend his contract over the long term and that we will continue to accompany him on his way in the future,” said professional football manager Clemens Fritz.

Opitz, who moved to Bremen from the HSV youth team in 2020, will continue to play in the U19s, for which he has been directly involved in 14 goals in 24 games so far. “Of course, it has always been my dream to play in the Bundesliga one day. But I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. The team welcomed me well in the summer and helped me a lot to integrate.
