“Very bitter”
Amos Pieper will not be available to Werder Bremen for a long time. The defender has to undergo an operation on his ankle, which the club say is “essential” and has been an issue for some time. But the 25-year-old “always made himself available despite complaints and we postponed an intervention,” explained coach Ole Werner in a statement from the SVW.
In Bremen, the former Bielefeld player, who moved to the Weser last summer, is a regular and has only missed one game in the current Bundesliga season and another one due to ankle problems. “In consultation with him, we have now decided that he will have the operation carried out now,” said Werner about Pieper. It is not yet clear how long the professional will be out. In any case, the season is definitely over for Pieper.
