Werder Bremen will have to do without national striker Niclas Füllkrug in the Bundesliga home game against SC Freiburg. The top scorer of the current Bundesliga season will be out on Sunday (3:30 p.m.) due to a muscular problem in his calf.
“Niclas already had a few problems from the game against Mainz, which have now increased again,” said coach Ole Werner on Saturday. “The loss of abundance is of course bitter for us, but we will still do everything we can to keep the three points against Freiburg in Bremen.”
However, Werner is “confident that he can be available again for the game in Berlin next week.”
The 30-year-old striker has already scored 16 goals in the current Bundesliga season. It is questionable whether Bremen can keep the World Cup participant beyond the summer.
