Werder Bremen: 4 offers for Niclas Füllkrug – conditions for whereabouts

Talks about an extension are ongoing

“I want to stay at Werder,” said Niclas Füllkrug recently in the “Kicker” interview. “We’ll see what kind of talks will be held during the preparations. But I’m fine here. I would rather strengthen my role in the team rather than seeing myself somewhere else.” According to information from “Sport Bild”, the first exploratory talks between Bremen and the Füllkrug side took place in June, but a change in the striker is not yet out of the question .

Last weekend, Füllkrug’s advisor Gunther Neuhaus is said to have stayed at the Green-Whites’ training camp in Zell am Ziller, Austria, to talk to Werder about the future of his protégé. According to the magazine, after the best season of his career with 19 goals and eight assists in 34 appearances, Füllkrug has four offers: one each from the Bundesliga, Serie A, LaLiga and the Serbian Superliga.

In order to stay in Bremen, he said, he said, he said that Fulkrug had to meet the conditions. The 29-year-old not only wants to extend his contract, which ends in 2023, by a year, but also by at least two additional years. In addition, Füllkrug would accept a salary reduction due to Werder’s financial situation, but not by 50 percent. The attacker is currently said to be earning around 2.5 million euros a year, and “Sport Bild” speculates that both sides could agree on a sum of 1.7 to 2 million euros plus a success bonus in the new contract from 2023.

Füllkrug wants a timely agreement with Werder Bremen – otherwise farewell?

It is also important for Füllkrug that the new contract is concluded promptly – by the start of the Bundesliga on August 6 at VfL Wolfsburg. The experience from last summer, when the striker was considered a candidate for sale due to the required income, showed him that starting a new season with an uncertain future is a disadvantage. Until the deadline day on August 31, 2021, Füllkrug did not know whether he would stay in Bremen, which apparently affected his performance. In the meantime he found himself on the bench. If there is no quick agreement with Werder, a farewell should become an issue.
