In the first Alpine combination of the winter, the Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal is in the lead before the slalom. After the descent in Wengen, the ski racer is 0.72 seconds ahead of Adrien Theaux in France. Svindal’s teammate Kjetil Jansrud is third together with Hannes Reichelt of Austria, 0.90 seconds back. Last year’s winner Carlo Janka also has good chances of a top place. With a deficit of 1.48 seconds, the Swiss was ninth in front of his home crowd after 37 drivers had started. Co-favorite Alexis Pinturault from France is 2.53 seconds behind in the slalom scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
