Wendy van Dijk is facing an extreme salary drop now that her husband Erland Galjaard is no longer the boss and she is stringing together flop after flop, says TV expert Tina Nijkamp. “She’s going to two tons!”
Wendy van Dijk’s switch from RTL 4 to SBS 6 did not do her much good. Nowadays she is a presenter of television flops and according to critics she can only save her career by dying her hair dark. However, there is a good chance that Mari van de Ven will forbid that, so she has to keep her fingers crossed that her last chance will be a success.
Wounded ego
Wendy’s star status has fallen so much in the meantime that her own colleagues from Shownieuws have already mentioned her for the presentation of Lachen Om Home Videos. So painful. “It will probably hurt her ego enormously,” explains Tina Nijkamp, former channel boss of SBS 6. The Telegraph.
Why exactly would this be so painful for Wendy? “Because a Hart van Nederland presenter could also present that program in a wasted hour.”
Salary trap
According to Tina, one thing is certain, she adds analysis channel: Wendy has to hand in. When asked whether she thinks her contract with SBS 6 will be extended in the summer, she says: “Strangely enough, I think so. Two or three years. This is to keep Wendy’s loss of face limited. Just neat too, Wendy once meant a lot to SBS6.”
There is a catch though. “Her salary will probably drop from around 1.2 to 1.4 million euros to 200 to 250 thousand euros.”
Hidden camera
From top earner to bargain corner: this is really a very significant drop in salary. What should Wendy do for that? “She will then present, for example, a hidden camera program and Who of the Three.”
And Rob Kemps? They are really going to discharge them, Tina thinks. “I don’t see that being extended. That will be on a so-called ‘freelance’ basis, I suspect. I think that will also apply to Jan Versteegh. Permanent contracts are simply out.”
