Wendy van Queen Beads started a web shop and then decided to start selling her stuff at markets. Now it’s time for expansion: in the week of May 8, she will open her showroom on the Eerste Stationsstraat where you can shop by appointment.
Window shopping in Seghwaert
And that showroom was first only in her own home. At the front of her house, she made a window display with dream catchers near a window. “In the evening a lamp shines on it, which lights up the shop window, such a nice sight!” In the window display, customers can see and order her collection via the QR code pasted on the window.
In daily life, Wendy works in the juvenile detention center in Alphen aan den Rijn. A while ago she started her own webshop as a hobby. There she sells homemade jewelry, Balinese dream catchers and wood carvings. “Things that make me very happy.”

Her collection has expanded over time: “I bought a laser to engrave drinks boards. I make leather collars for dogs and I would like to make bags. So a lot of plans, but I don’t have the time,” she says with a laugh. And that includes the showroom in an office space near Zoetermeer Oost station. “I can’t lose my stuff anymore. My car is completely full and my house is overflowing. Now I can display everything beautifully, on the market and in my new store.”
