Young basketball star Victor Wembanyama led his San Antonio Spurs to their fifth win of the season with a strong performance.
The 19-year-old Frenchman scored 30 points in a 118:105 win over the Portland Trail Blazers and also contributed six rebounds and six assists – in just 24 minutes. The Spurs ended the series of five defeats in a row, but remain last in the West with a record of 5:25 wins.
Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to score 30 points and 7 blocks in less than 30 minutes of playing time. The 30 points also mean his second best value this season; only at the beginning of November against the Phoenix Suns was the 2.24 meter giant even more successful with 38 points.
Denver Nuggets celebrate a landslide victory
Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic also delivered a brilliant performance. In the Denver Nuggets’ 142:105 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the Serb achieved his eleventh triple-double of the season with 26 points, 14 rebounds and ten assists – hitting each of his eleven throw attempts from the field and each of his three free throws.
The Nuggets celebrated their sixth win in a row and are in second place in the Western Conference with 23 wins and ten defeats behind the Minnesota Timberwolves (23:7).
