In Tirana the Apulian triumphs for the first time in a senior event: for her 171 kg in total, 79 in the tear and 92 in the momentum
Giulia Imperio is the new European champion of 49 kg. The blue triumphed in Tirana at the end of a long and tight race, winning the total gold with 171 kg, ahead of the Ukrainian Lomachynska with 167 kg, and the Spanish Gimenez Guervos Perez with 163 kg. For the Pugliese of the Army, she too won the tear-off silver with 79 kg (behind the Ukrainian with 80) and the momentum gold with 92 kg. The Azzurri is the last to get on the platform with 79 kg, immediately after the 75 and 77 lifted by the Ukrainian Anhelina Lomachynska. She doesn’t go on the first try, with the barbell sliding behind her, but she fits the second one well, allowing her to momentarily take the lead. However, she promptly replied the Ukrainian, who raised with 80 kg. Imperio can do nothing but raise the stakes, attempting 81 kg; unfortunately, however, this lift also fails, but she locks the silver anyway.
Momentum
–
Even in the momentum Giulia Imperio was the last to get on the platform with 92 kg, immediately after the Spanish with 91 (the Ukrainian had stopped at 87); she lifts the barbell very easily, which allows her to return to the platform with 100 and 104 kg. The tests unfortunately do not go, but the first test at 92 is enough to win the European title. “I take home the senior European title, the first time for me – she says hotly -. It was a very slow race, there were a lot of lifts before mine and I had to wait a long time before entering the platform. Surely we could have done better and more, and the race could have gone differently but everything is experience. That’s okay, hoping for an even better result next time ”.
