Weesper company first sends new employees on holiday: “Starting well-rested”

In many sectors it is difficult to find good staff. Companies therefore make a little more effort to fill the vacancies. The Weesper company thinks it has found a good stunt: if you start working there, you can go on holiday for a week before you start.

“We have set up the application process slightly differently,” says Renée Bruinsma of the company. “We’ve set up a campaign because we’re really looking for a lot of people, just like many other companies.”

Well equipped to get started

A pilot is currently underway for three of the approximately twenty vacancies. “When you start working for us, we first send you on vacation. We had to do a little more to stick our heads above the ground. And so we do this,” she says. It is not only promotion for the company, according to Renée it also has advantages for employees. “You ensure that people can get to work rested and full of energy.”

According to Bruinsma, that also suits the company. “We don’t want money to be the only motivator for working with us. We are really committed to a healthy working environment, enough space for rest.”

It sounds nice and potential employees think so, too. The company says it has had many reactions in recent weeks, but it has not yet resulted in a real ‘match’ with a new employee.

Durable

Solarclarity is a solar energy company where sustainability is also a top priority, according to Bruinsma, so it will in any case not be a flying holiday. “We look for a holiday that really suits the employee, by train or with a sustainable car. And people don’t have to take holidays for it.”

The company is growing rapidly and usually has a number of vacancies open. “We noticed that it is difficult to find good people.” Bruinsma expects to find the right people for those three vacancies, and if it is successful, the other vacancies will also stand a chance of the holiday. “We just hope to find nice colleagues. This should help.”
