Weeronline warns of hay fever due to flowering grass

Grass has recently started blooming and that means hay fever complaints for people with a grass pollen allergy. In the coming period it will remain largely dry, so that people can experience more and more nuisance, Weeronline reports.

Due to the sunny and warm weather of the past few weeks, the grass has grown quickly. The first varieties flowered over the Easter weekend. The peak of the grass pollen season is expected in the second half of May and June.

In addition to grass, other plants can also cause complaints. Birches in bloom already cause allergic reactions and can do so until the first week of May. After that, the tree pollen season is over. Herbs such as sorrel and plantain can cause hay fever in some people in the near future. Mugwort can be a nuisance in the second half of July.

According to Weeronline, a few million Dutch people will have hay fever complaints in the near future. The complaints vary from itching, sneezing or runny noses, to tiredness or a flu-like feeling.
