Weekly goal record was broken in the English Premier League with 45 goals



With 45 goals scored in 10 matches played in the 23rd week of the English Premier League, the weekly goal record of the 20-team league was broken.


In the closing match of the 23rd week of the league, Manchester City beat Brentford 3-1 away with Phil Foden’s hat-trick.


According to the statement made by the Premier League, the 4 goals scored in the match in question increased the total number of goals in the 23rd week to 45, and a record was broken in the number of goals in the league, where 20 teams competed and 10 matches were held every week since 1995-1996.


Considering the seasons in which 20 teams competed in the Premier League, the previous record for goals scored in a 10-game week was 44. The old record was reached in the 2nd week of 2020-2021 and the 34th week of last season.
