This weekend Haarlem will again be all about art during Kunstlijn Haarlem. One of the many artists is Anouk Rosenhart. She makes beautiful mosaics from small stones. More art can be seen and purchased at the Affordable Art fair in Amsterdam Noord and indie pop idol Lloyd Cole will be in the Amsterdam Melkweg.
Tip 1: Beautiful mosaics by Anouk Rosenhart at Kunstlijn Haarlem
This weekend and next weekend you can go to all kinds of places in Haarlem for art during Kunstlijn Haarlem. Dozens of artists exhibit not only in museums and galleries but also in restaurants, cafes and the town hall. Anouk Rosenhart is one of those artists. She makes mosaic art. You are probably familiar with the beautiful mosaics of bathing ladies or warriors on horseback in excavated Roman villas or the mosaics of saints in churches. Anouk followed a classical mosaic training in Italy where she learned all the techniques. Back in the Netherlands she specialized in abstract works of art. She makes the most beautiful patterns with stones she cut herself. She gets inspiration from the world around her. She sees patterns in trees, letters or cemeteries and then turns them into mosaics.
Kunstlijn Haarlem 2023 can be visited on the weekends of 4 and 5 and 11 and 12 November at various locations in Haarlem.
Tip 2: Affordable art at the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam North
This weekend you can again find affordable art in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam at the 17th edition of the Affordable Art Fair. More than 70 prestigious Dutch and international galleries show work by living artists, both emerging and established.
On the occasion of this 17th edition of the Affordable Art Fair, UPWAY, an online platform for refurbished e-bikes, has entered into a collaboration with the Dutch Design Award-winning artist Yamuna Forzani. The result is a unique, one-off art e-bike that will be sold by auction during the fair. Half of the proceeds will benefit BYCS, a global NGO that wants to improve the quality of life in cities through cycling.
The Affordable Art Fair can be visited from 1 to Sunday 5 November in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North.

Tip 3: 80s indie pop idol LIoyd Cole returns to Amsterdam
In the mid-80s, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions scored hits with songs such as Perfect Skin and Rattlesnackes. In 1989, Lloyd Cole also started making music under his own name. Cole has already released eleven solo albums.
This fall he will bring his solo work to Melkweg in two different sets. In addition to a solo acoustic set, he plays an electric set with a band. Consisting of Commotions founders Blair Cowan and Neil Clark, and Icelandic drummer Signy Jakobsdottir.
Cole’s solo work still echoes the folk of Commotions, but also draws influences from psych, country and soul. On the 2019 album ‘Guesswork’, Cole even experimented with electronics in the form of drum machines!
Lloyd Cole will be at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on Monday, November 6.
