P.To take our minds off the outside temperatures that are still close to 30 degrees, we begin to focus on the joys of the cool autumn days coming. How? With six weekends in the vineyards for example. Once Vinitaly has been archived, we can start thinking about the Franciacorta Festival, the Milan Wine Week, and other brand new events, such as the Vini d’Abbazia.
Week end in the vineyards: 7 appointments
An opportunity also to plan a gourmet trip. The events take place all over Italy, from north to south, a sign that our entire country has a very strong tradition and culture in this regard. Here is where we can instead spend a few lighthearted hours around the great Italian wines.
Wines of Abbey in Latina
From 2 to 4 September 2022 – Borgo di Fossanova (LT)
The event is organized by Pro Loco of Sabaudia and fromPassion of Wine Associationin collaboration with SlowineLatina Wine Route, Pro Loco di Priverno. It aims to tell the role that, since the Middle Ages, the abbeys have had not only in the production of wine but also in the preservation of vines that would otherwise have been lost.
The protagonists of the event are the abbeys, monasteries and convents located throughout the Italian territory: South Tyrol, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Umbria, Campania and Lazio. The event also goes beyond the Italian borders thanks to the participation of Les Grands Chais de Francewhich will tell the extraordinary historical and cultural heritage of Burgundy wine.
A suggestive location, that of Village of Fossanova. We are talking about the oldest example of Gothic-Cistercian art in Italy. The Cistercian monks who founded it in 1208 came from the Citeaux monastery in France. A monastery that was fundamental for the production of the noble Burgundy wines. The monumental complex is extraordinary. Surrounded by a village that hardly needs any introduction, nor to the tourist who goes there and who is immediately surrounded by the rare beauty of the narrow streets, the cobblestones, the small craft shops that give a special life to the locals, nor to them the last ones who, every day, enjoy the beautiful peace of a timeless place.

Grape Harvest Festival in Fico, Bologna
Saturday 24th September in Fico Bologna
To celebrate the Harvest, the Parco di Fico will be transformed into a large winery with many large and small activities: in the central Arena games and quizzes to learn about the world of wine followed by a free tasting, which will end with the awarding of a “premium bottle” of Romagna wine. And for those who want to approach the world of wine in a more in-depth way, in the Bottaia di FICO you can enroll in the cwine bear held by expert oenologists from Fontanafredda.
In time for happy hour, however, a country music concert will enliven the vineyard thanks to the performances of a dance school and to the rhythm of live bands such as Rodeo Fish – historic band from Modena – and Country Manners, directly from Bologna. To round off the evening, it will also be possible to enjoy one suggestive dinner among the rows of the FICO vineyard.

Oltrepò, land of Pinot Noir
September 26, Casteggio, Oltrepò Pavese
One territory, one vine, two excellences. This Wine Festival is only in its second edition and celebrates the Pinot Noir in an extraordinary territory like that of Oltrepò Pavese. The event takes place through a sensory journey of considerable interest, under the guidance of experts and professionals in the sector, to fully grasp the richness of both a wine and a territory.
Oltrepò Pavese has been a land dedicated to the production of wine for a very long time, thanks to a position that allows it a mild and temperate climate. The territory is in fact crossed by the so-called “Parallel of Wine” (the 45th), the same one that crosses other great wine territories, such as Piedmont, the Bordeaux area and Oregon. Pinot Noir is a grape variety that in this territory expresses unique and highly valuable characteristics, appreciable both in the classic method version (for lovers of bubbles), and in its version vinified in red.
Here too a location of great value: the Antica Tenuta Pezzaghera in Casteggio, a noble palace right in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese. The structure dates back to 1700 and is of rare elegance, with a beautiful Italian garden and the shade of the surrounding vineyards.
