Weed plantations and firearm found in Kampen and Zeewolde during ‘hit day’ by police and justice Struggling

On 7 June, the police rounded up two large cannabis plantations in Kampen and Zeewolde. A firearm was also found in Kampen. Someone has been arrested in both places. The raids were part of a major investigation into cannabis cultivation, the national unit reports on Politie.nl.

Except in Kampen and Zeewolde, the police raided Emmen and several raids in Amsterdam on Tuesday. A large cannabis plantation was also rolled up in Emmen, where one person was arrested. The two main suspects were arrested in Amsterdam.

hit day

“Five arrests, a BMX X5, a firearm and more than 5000 hemp plants: that is the result of a ‘hit day’ of a lengthy investigation into large-scale hemp plantations, which took place last Tuesday,” the police sums up the total yield.

The term ‘blow day’ is often used to indicate the moment when an investigation by the judiciary and the police is ‘rewarded’ by the actual arrest of suspects.

prime suspects

The ‘hit day’ of June 7 was mainly aimed at two main suspects from Amsterdam that the investigation team had in its sights. The duo, who were arrested during the actions in Amsterdam, can be linked to the three rolled up plantations in Emmen, Kampen and Zeewolde and to six previously rolled up plantations in Amsterdam and Almere, according to the police.

“From November 2018 to May 2022, the police found these six hemp plantations, which formed the basis for this investigation. Five of them were in Amsterdam, one was in Almere. In total, more than 1500 plants were seized from these nurseries.”

Struggling

According to the police, the presence of the firearm in Kampen is ‘another witness to how much violence is involved in the illegal trade in (soft) drugs’. “And that in the heart of residential areas or in the midst of expensive companies and business premises.”

The nursery in Kampen was discovered in a commercial building on the Industrieweg. The building had an extra wall to prevent the police from discovering the plantation. However, the more than 1800 cannabis plants present were cleared on Tuesday.

The building was also adapted in such a way that you could sleep and live there. During the raid, a 29-year-old man with no fixed abode or abode tried to flee. He is therefore one of the five suspects who were arrested during the ‘hit day’.
