Spring high Peter had strength: The spring high provided us with lots of sun and mild temperatures. For a long time the weather didn’t let itself be seen on the cards. Now it’s clear: the cold swatter is coming!
Rain and clouds are expected in the south on Wednesday. The north is sunny, but it is also significantly colder here. climatologist dr. Karsten Brandt from Donnerwetter.de says to BILD: “Now there is movement in the weather kitchen and spring is taking a break. The 3 W’s are there: wind, clouds and wild air mass games with changes between warm and cold air.”
And why this weather yo-yo?
At the current time of the year, the general weather situation is changing from winter to summer. The cold air masses of winter are still very close to us over northern Europe. At the same time, however, the Mediterranean region is already warming up significantly.
Graduate meteorologist Dominik Jung from wetter.net to BILD: “So there are temperature differences. Sometimes one air mass, sometimes the other, gains the upper hand. The weather in April is so changeable and that’s where the sentence came from: April does what it wants!”
On Monday there were peak values of around 23 degrees in Regensburg. It was the warmest day of the year 2022 so far. On Friday we expect only 1 degree and snow showers in Regensburg.
“Spring is switched off, especially in the south of Germany. That’s a temperature drop of 21 degrees. At night there are up to minus 7 degrees on the weekend. This is a blatant storm. This is also due to the fact that the weather so far in March has been far too warm and sunny. A cold relapse is particularly noticeable,” says qualified meteorologist Jung.
At the end of February, the stormy weather changed to calm high-pressure weather. Now, at the turn of the next month, high-pressure weather is changing to wild April weather.
“Overall, it gets really cold at night. The night values drop in the south to minus 10 or even minus 11 degrees. It gets coldest in the south, because that’s where the weather model calculates a snow cover at higher altitudes,” says qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung from wetter.net to BILD.
Incidentally, Sahara dust is also in the air on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Due to rain in the middle and in the south, the especially tomorrow will be partially washed out of the atmosphere.
Weather expert Jung: “The rain has turned reddish-brown. But that only affects the center and the south, in the east and north there is hardly any precipitation from the sky at first.”
This is how it will continue in the coming days
Wednesday: 7 to 15 degrees, mixed, rain again and again, especially in the middle
Thursday: 5 to 10 degrees, changeable, a few showers
Friday: 1 to 7 degrees, especially south of the Danube snow again and again down to low altitudes, otherwise hardly any precipitation
Saturday: 0 to 7 degrees, sleet or snow in the south, mostly dry in the north
Sunday: 1 to 7 degrees, mix of sun and clouds, a few showers
Monday: 4 to 9 degrees, showery weather, some rain in the north as well
Tuesday: 7 to 12 degrees, mixed, partly sun, partly clouds and some rain
Weather expert Jung: “Looks like it will start to warm up again next week. At the weekend we crossed the cold valley. Then things go up.”
