Sergio Scariolo, coach of the Spanish basketball team, explained on Monday that Spain must “try to be a very cohesive and very solid version & rdquor; of herself in the next Eurobasket September to “compensate for the shortcomings & rdquor; that the team may have for the tournament.

The Italian coach appeared after the last training session at the Movistar Academy Magariños in Madrid, before traveling to Athens for the first preparation match for the Eurobasket, on Tuesday (18:00) against Greece.
“It’s time to compete, especially to break the training routine, especially this year when the tour is something different, and we have very strong rivals from the beginning, who even surpass us in the FIBA ranking” Scariolo pointed out.

On the other hand, the coach gave the first names discarded to be part of the final 12 selected for the Eurobasket, among whom are Héctor Alderete, Alberto Díaz, Jonathan Barreiro and Miquel Salvó
“Barreiro and Salvó have already established themselves in the National Team and continue to work and Alberto Díaz, who was not very well physically, has been there quite a few times and will be more often, and Héctor Alderete has shown us that he can evolve and we hope he finds space to to continue growing in experience” explained the Italian.
The list has thus been reduced to 17 players, who will be the ones traveling to play in Greece with the exception of Sergio Llull, who will return to the group on Wednesday.
