Everyone should use facial water. It either completes the skin cleansing routine or gives it extra moisture just before applying the face cream.
When purchasing facial water, it is important to choose a product that suits your needs. If you want a product that makes your skin spotless after removing makeup and washing your face, choose a toner that will be used with a cotton swab. If, on the other hand, your skin cleansing ritual is okay and you need more power for skin care, turn to a jar whose contents are pressed to your face by hand. In this case, the side of the product usually reads treatment water.
Treatment water often contains, for example, moisturizing, emollient or exfoliating ingredients. It is often recommended to apply to the skin – so pour it on the palm of your hand and apply pressure directly on the face several times. This is how the skin is guaranteed to be soft.
We tested 13 different facial and treatment waters on different skin types. Would these be a new favorite for you that would work wonders on your skin?
ACO Face Clean Refreshing Toner
11.10 e, University online pharmacy.
The mildly, almost imperceptibly scented toner does not irritate in any way. The skin feel is wonderful: gentle, non-irritating and moisturizing, suitable for even more sensitive skin. This would not be believed to be a low-cost pharmacy product. After a couple of weeks, the skin felt soft, and the situation in the worst dry areas had clearly eased. Stay tuned!
The package advises to moisten this cotton swab and wipe the face and neck after cleansing the skin. Since the product was packaged in a pump bottle, I preferred to spray it directly on the skin. Works great that way! This is not an actual cleaning product. It refreshes comfortably, but the power is not enough to remove makeup, for example.
Shiseido Treatment Softerner treatment water
63.50 e, Sokos.
Shiseido treatment water for normal and combination skin makes the skin glow. I use this to wipe my face with a cotton swab, although this could be applied to the face as such. The product contains theanine, which keeps the oil from the skin comfortably at bay.
This treatment water feels moisturizing on the skin, in the morning it feels like you don’t even need a lotion. This is useless to imagine getting rid of makeup like a cleansing toner, as it is a caring and moisturizing product. The product as a whole is luxurious down to the scent and bottle and the skin feels wonderful. I will definitely buy more of this.
Skin Treat Kombucha Liquid Glow Toner
14.32 e (norm. 17.90 e), Kicks.fi.
Brightening toner that is a great cleanser routine. The product can be applied to the face either with a cotton ball or by hand clapping. The latter way worked better for me.
The skin is good. The lightly exfoliating product was a little tingling at first, but the tingling sensation settled quickly. Despite its peeling, the product was also moisturizing. The scent is mild and neutral, like Skin Treat.
I think the skin became clearer in a couple of weeks. During the experiment, there was a severe period of frost, during which the air was really dry and then the exfoliating effect was perhaps too hard, as the most dry areas of the skin began to flake. Maybe that’s why this would be a better product for the warmer season? On the other hand, it works even in winter, as long as the weather is not quite arctic.
Nivea Visage Soothing Toner
3.99 e, Prism.
Nivea toner is a good addition to your face wash routine. I use this in the morning and in the evening. The product removes any make-up residue left on the skin. After use, the skin feels clean and moisturized. I think this toner has a good value for money. It clearly moisturizes my combination skin, as the skin does not tighten after using the product.
The only downside is the scent of the product, which is not quite the most traditional Nivea. I find the scent somehow medicinal and a little pungent.
By Raili Beauty Essentials Pro Lift Hydrating Lotion
20 e, Olo-Pharmacy.
The moisturizing treatment fluid feels cool and fresh on the skin. The composition is very liquid, so the best idea is to apply it a little at a time and pat on the face. According to the instructions, you can put up to five layers. Even one layer feels wonderfully moist.
The fresh feeling lasts for a long time, but after drying, the product makes the skin feel tight, especially if there are many layers.
The jar has a reduced and black, high-quality feel. The product smells a bit pharmacy-like. Personally, I miss the softness and aroma of the scent of my products.

Oriflame Optimals Comforting Toner
7.90 e (norm. 16 e), Oriflame.
The gel-like thick toner feels light on the skin. This odorless toner is applied to a cotton swab to wipe the face, avoiding the skin around the eyes. Does not cause major changes to the skin, but feels soothing, especially on frosty days.
This toner picks up makeup creases, but apparently due to its gel-like composition, the substance evaporates quickly. This can be sprinkled properly on a cotton ball.
Glam Glow Supertoner Exfoliating Acid Solution
36.90 e, Cocopanda.
An interesting toner that is activated by shaking and applied to the face and neck with a cotton swab. The toner is promised to make the skin immediately fresher and cleaner. It brightens the skin.
The first time you use it, the toner makes the skin really soft. The product contains six acids that are good for the skin, but I do not feel tingling or any other uncomfortable feeling after application.
Contrary to the instructions, I use toner a few times a week when my skin feels the need for extra cleansing because my skin is dry. After two weeks of irregular use, the exfoliating effect of the toner is reflected in the fact that it has reduced the small lines due to surface dryness. I was going to continue using facial water even after the test.
BeautyAct Retinol Action Refining Toner
15.92 e (norm. 19.90 e), Kicks.fi.
Pleasant toner that is quickly absorbed into the skin and leaves the face feeling comfortable. The product contains retinol, so it should only be used in the evenings. This is an easily spreadable liquid product that is easy to use.
The product smells neutral and its packaging is simply pretty and clear.
L’Oreal Rare Flowers Purifying Skin Tonic
7.25 e, K-food.
The toner, which contains rose and jasmine extracts, smells pleasantly floral. The feeling when applied to the skin is fresh and the skin immediately feels cool. The feeling evaporates quickly and the skin feels normal but clean again.
The product lives up to its promise and completes the washing routine, the cotton swab still sticks to make-up residue and dirt after a normal face wash. So I think a functional toner with a pleasant scent and feel.
Frudia Green Grape Pore Control Toner
19.60 e (norm. 24.50 e), Bearel.fi.
A toner that can be applied to the face with either a cotton ball or a pat. Personally, I patted the product directly on the skin, but due to the wateryness of the toner, it felt like the product was being wasted somewhat. The toner is quickly absorbed into the skin and feels refreshing. Sometimes I may pat an extra layer of toner on my face if my skin feels the need for extra hydration.
This product smells strongly fruity. If you are accurate about scents, you may want to try to sniff it out before making a purchase decision.
For example, the product promises to brighten the skin, balance its oiliness and shrink enlarged pores. After a few weeks of use, my skin pores may look a little smaller. My skin also feels more moisturized, but this may also be affected by the fact that during the test period, I conscientiously used facial water every morning and evening, when it is usually just part of my evening routines.
BTB13 Intense Hydration Toner
29.80 e, Hill trade.
This toner really does what it promises to moisturize. An excellent product I saw in the winter for me too, who don’t like greasy-feeling products, but moisturizing would still be necessary. After using this product, the skin feels almost the same as after applying the moisturizer. Let’s go!
Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner
28.50 e, Lyko.
Menthol-scented toner that moisturizes the skin but curbs its oiliness. This is applied to a clean face with a cotton swab in a rotating motion.
The first feeling on the skin is fresh and cooling, as the scent suggests. Does not leave a sticky feeling.
I have used this in the morning to treat my skin as well as extra moisturizing, in the hopes of curbing the oiliness of my skin and shrinking my pores. Would definitely require a pair of oil-free moisturizers to work better against greasing.
Lumene Nordic Hydra Source Treatment Water
12.90 e, Lumene.
Lumen treatment water is intended to be used on the skin after the toner, before the serum, as a moisturizing and emollient product. Personally, I use this on clean skin under moisturizer, or occasionally to refresh or cleanse the skin.
The scent of the product is fresh and natural and does not disturb the nose sensitive to the scent at all. After using the product, the skin feels fresh, even silky soft.
With this product, my skin has remained better moisturized and soft than before. My skin is prone to dryness and inflammatory rashes, and those with this have stayed away completely. Other facial waters have not been able to do that. In addition, this product also allows you to get more out of the basic moisturizer.
