The need for toner should not be underestimated. It can be the perfect finisher of a skin cleansing routine or the first and most important step in a treatment routine. As a treatment product, the toner or treatment liquid can be cleansing, exfoliating or moisturizing. It restores the pH balance of the skin after cleansing and thus the skin starts to feel better.
The range of natural cosmetics also contains effective toners, also with exfoliating properties. Many experts urge you to rely on either natural or synthetic cosmetics throughout your skin care routine, this way you can get more out of your products.
We tested seven products that work wonders on the skin. Our test team is full of mixed users of cosmetics.
To the torment of the bone pins
Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose AHA Toner Toner
29.50 e, Jolie.
A strong toner that smells harsh, even herbal. So don’t be confused about the pink bottle, as the contents of this jar are guaranteed to be full. This toner is applied to the skin by wiping with a cotton swab. This is a toner for those who want a real powerful product!
This exfoliates the skin, which appears at the beginning as a redness of the threat. The bottle says that for people with sensitive skin, this is not recommended for daily use, but as an effective product to be used once or twice a week. Although my skin is not particularly sensitive, I will use this product infrequently and if necessary in the future.
Bone pimples have been my hassle and this toner helped them. I used this as a powerful product on the milium and in a couple of weeks they shrank.
For those who dream of juicy skin
Djusie Acid Bloom Balancing Essence
39 e, House of Organic.
If you dream of juicy moisturizing your skin, you should get a treatment solution containing gentle acids from the new Finnish brand Djusie. It effectively maintains the skin’s proper pH and moisture balance. The active ingredient is apple cider vinegar in particular.
I applied the product to my face through my hands, because with a cotton swab, the precious product would only be wasted. The product is praised for being suitable for sensitive skin, but my impure and hormone-mixed skin also thanks me for this. After just a couple of weeks of use, my skin becomes more moisturized, brighter and fuller, the little fingers and fine lines seem to fade – definitely going on!
The product made in Finland is also super attractive visually. There will be a permanent place for this in my soon-to-be-renovated bathroom.
Carefree relief
Lawn AHA Moment Toner
18.90 e, Life.
Exfoliating toner for normal and oily skin from the Finnish Murumuru brand is used almost like ordinary toner. After cleansing the skin, apply the product with a cotton ball on the face, avoiding the skin around the eyes. The exfoliating effect may initially appear as a slight tingling and redness on the skin. The use of exfoliating toner is as effortless as regular toner.
The product has a really mild scent. There are a lot of impurities left on the patch. The skin feels slightly leathery after use, but does not redness or pinch. The product seems to work exactly as I thought. This is how peeling is the fastest and effortless to do. It fits a pretty carefree cosmetic user like me who has no other routine than cleansing her makeup well and moisturizing her skin in the morning and evening. I plan to keep the toner supplementing my skin care a few times a week. Unclean skin could thank this product even in daily use.
Morning opener
BYBI Beauty Day Glow Brightening AHA Tonic
19.90 e, TwistBe.
The toning toner gently exfoliates the skin. This product is recommended for use as a cure or as a substitute for weekly exfoliation, for example. The product smells fresh. It contains AHA acids that exfoliate the skin as well as soothing probiotics.
I actually applied this glowing toner to my skin in the mornings and noticed the changes in just a couple of weeks. My skin is clearly more glowing, its tone looks brighter and small lines have echoed.
This toner has become a regular part of my morning skincare ritual. I wash my face after waking up with only cold water, after which I pat this on my skin for about three drops.
For the gentle lover
Ekopharma Herukka Soft treatment water
24.90 e, Hill’s shop.
A berry-scented treatment water that can be applied to the face either with a cotton ball or by hand clapping. Without a cotton swab, it seems better to get rid of it. This is not a cleansing toner, but complements the skin care routine.
After two weeks of experimentation, the skin feels a little softer. However, the product was a little disappointing with its moisture content – I was expecting more! Requires several coats, and yet after that was allowed to apply a lot of serum and moisturizer, otherwise the skin will start to tighten. A big plus for the product is its gentleness and the fact that it does not irritate the skin.
Helper for dry skin
Mádara Comforting Toner
18.90 e, Oletkaunis.fi.
Moisturizing treatment water from Latvian Mádara is applied to clean skin before moisturizer. This mild and fresh-smelling treatment water feels pleasant, soothing and gentle on the skin. I am happy because this is very suitable for dry skin.
During the test period of a couple of weeks, there are no actual changes in my skin, but on the other hand, there are no new pimples and the dryness stays under control. It does not remove makeup, but gives the skin a wonderful finish. This completes the cleansing routine, leaving the skin soft.
Real moisture for winter skin
Neal’s Yard Remedies Hydrating Essence
53 e, Skincity.
Moisturizing toner for dry and adult skin is a real salvation for dry winter skin. This toner takes hydration to a whole different level than other toners that promise to moisturize in general. The composition of the product is oily and therefore moisturizing and nourishing.
For normal or oily skin, this toner may be too moisturizing. But if your skin needs hydration, here’s a great jar for you.
