The dear babies. It touches me that many more animals should actually be shot. Because as gourmets, they are just too happy to dig into the fresh shoots of young deciduous trees.

But this conversion of the forest – away from the pine, towards oaks, lime trees & Co. – is important. Also, so that the groundwater level does not drop, maybe even rise again. The Senate should therefore examine whether the hunting season for roe deer needs to be extended – the decision is overdue.

If drought and bark beetles are already maltreating the capital’s forest (40 percent have significant damage), fires should not also blaze. In addition, because they are ALL man-made – there is nothing to do with self-ignition through broken glass or anything else that is claimed.

In order to quickly detect smoke in the event of an emergency, Berlin has now also installed its first forest fire sensor, with more to follow. Incidentally, it is a Berlin invention; the company is the world market leader. Great!

The foresters go to great lengths to save our green treasure. A task of the century. Incidentally, the city only bought the forests in Berlin and Brandenburg between 1910 and 1941 – as a precaution for the growing city. Now we have to take care of her.
