“We dispel some myths – and create new ones”

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Police album “Synchronicity”, the rock band is launching its official TikTok account. They probably want to share some never-before-seen footage from the archive on the profile. In a previously released clip, drummer Steward Copeland announces: “We’re going to explore old stories, explain obscure songs, bust some myths [und] justify some myths.”

In one of the first four videos already posted online, Copeland gives a lesson in what he calls “Police 101,” discussing the band’s beginnings and the 1976 punk boom. “The only way to get a gig was to be a punk band,” explains the 71-year-old to the young TikTok generation. Guitarist Andy Summers also talks about the beginning of her long career. “We started practicing a lot. And that’s when we started to find our own style. “The chemistry of the three special individuals that made up The Police could never be replicated,” says the band member in another clip. However, the third member of the group, Sting, has not yet appeared on the new account. Click here to go to the TikTok profile.

The Police single “Every Breath You Take” has been used as the sound for more than 165,000 TikTok videos to date. That’s why the trio created an “Official Guest Playlist” with some of their most famous songs, which allows users to create even more content with different songs.

The band’s fifth and final studio album, “Synchronicity”, was released in 1983, is the band’s most successful record and is considered one of the most important works of the Second British Invasion. The album not only made it to number one in the charts – both in the USA and Great Britain – but was even inducted into the “Grammy Hall Of Fame” in 2009.
