“We discussed Ronaldo”

Cristiano Ronaldo was offered to Bayern Munich. He decided against a transfer. The situation is different with another centre-forward.

In the last few weeks, FC Bayern Munich has been increasingly concerned with signing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo – but ultimately decided against a transfer. This is reported by “SportBild”. Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn told the magazine: “We discussed the issue – otherwise we wouldn’t be doing our job well. Personally, I think Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best footballers that has ever walked the planet.”

According to this, Bayern would have dealt, among other things, with the questions of what the player brings to the club in the social media area and how many jerseys he could sell worldwide. Kahn’s conclusion: “We came to the conclusion that, despite all our appreciation, he would not have suited our philosophy in the current situation.”

Ronaldo would have wanted to make extremely big money (at Manchester United it was 29 million euros), which was said to be damaging to the team structure.

Kane stock stays hot

Center forward Harry Kane is different. The Englishman still has a two-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern want to sign him as Lewandowski’s replacement – but probably not this summer. First of all, the German record champions want to wait and see how the team will act after Robert Lewandowski’s change without a real centre-forward.

At Bayern, the 28-year-old could collect the titles that have so far been denied him at Tottenham. The “Spurs”, on the other hand, will now try to extend the contract with their goal guarantor as soon as possible.
