We clean up 50 minutes a day (and that makes us happy) | My Guide

Live.More than 8 in 10 Belgians say that a tidy home makes them happy. To achieve this, they spend about fifty minutes every day on it. A tidy home even lowers the stress level by half.

The figures come from a survey that Camber had conducted by iVox in response to Home Organizing Week. The living room is the space where we prefer to clean. The place we look up to the most to create order out of chaos is the garage. The younger generation indicates that they are taking action for housemates or visitors. Especially people with children breathe a sigh of relief when everything is back to normal. Women estimate that they spend about 55 minutes a day, while men keep it at 46 minutes.

You can save a lot of time by tidying up in an organized manner. But not many people have heard of the Home Organizing Tidying Method yet. “It consists of a number of simple steps that you have to follow,” says home organizer Joke Himpens of Practical Joke. “You start by emptying your cupboards and collecting everything by category. Keep in mind that you only perform three actions afterwards if you take something out or put something away. Also pay attention to the ergonomic aspect. Also, don’t take everything into your own hands, but teach others in your family good tidying habits.”
